I can remember many a trip to the "record shop" and just flipping through albums.
Have you ever bought any for the cover for the art work?
1) Deep Purple "storm bringer" from the coverdale era...nice art work a stinker of a record.
2) Grateful Dead Blues for Allah. A nice one.
3)Frank Zappa and the Mothers.
"weasels ripped my flesh". I appreciate it more now than when I first grabbed it in the 70's.

The only one I can think of right off hand Charlie, is an album by
Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass called WHIPPED CREAM AND OTHER DELIGHTS!
I didn't dislike that music but I'll admit now for the first time ever, I bought it for the cover!
Let me say this...If I had not known anything about Cherie and run across BEAUTY'S ONLY SKIN DEEP years ago,
I'd've picked it up in a [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] beat just for the cover! Of coarse it would have been money well spent all the way around because it just so happens that I love that particular Cherie Currie music very much!
A very very very excellent CCover photo for sure!
I'll give this interesting new topic of yours some more thought Mr. C and be back if and when I trigger some recallable lp memory!
Later dude!

Iron Butterfly's, In a Gadda Dav-Vida, was pretty good. Anything with Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. Frank was funny and brilliant at the same time.

I will own up to buying one lp just because of the cover. I am a mature <s>boy</s> Man and I can take the ridicule hurled upon me for this admissinon
I bought the lp TNT by tanya tucker just because of the black catsuit she wore on the cover, Then when I ripped the shrink wrap off and opened the fgatefold to find her in the red molded catsuit i tacked it upon my wall before listening to the errr...Hmmmm... music.
I also own the afore mentioned lp by Herb Albert, Whipped Cream & other Delights.
As for the Grateful Dead lp mentioned by our own Jam Master C. I happenen to know Phillip Garris, the artist who painted the Blues for Allah cover. He gave me an autographed print of the same cover.
I LOVE LPS

I picked up the 1st Trillion album based on the
cover art. There's probably others but the memory
gets a little hazy when it comes to LP's.

Now this is a cool topic! There are so many covers that I like. I can think of a few off the top of my head.
Blue Oyster Cult - Some Enchanted Evening
Kansas - Point Of No Return
Queen - They had a few that I liked.
Led Zep. - They had a few that I liked.
Black Sabbath
Can't say that I ever bought them just for the cover though. Great Topic!
